Joy Barnes has more than 25 years of progressive experience and responsibility in directing and leading both operational and project teams in the healthcare industry. She is PMP certified and a multiple award winner for process improvement in both healthcare finance and care delivery systems. Her most treasured honors presented by peers and staff at University of Kentucky HealthCare Information Technology (UKHC IT) are the Motivator (2020) and Servant Leader (2015) awards. Joy holds a Master of Business Administration from Carson Newman University.
In her role as project/program manager, Joy has spent the last 3 years as the Technical Program Lead for the Epic project at UKHC IT. She oversaw the implementation of the infrastructure, devices, conversions, integrations, and reporting systems to support the Epic electronic health record. Over the past decade with UKHC IT she also led the Ambulatory Medical Record Rollout, as well as multiple Facilities projects.
As a member of the PMI Bluegrass Chapter since 2015, Joy looks forward to serving as a board member to bring her energy and enthusiasm to building the membership. As Associate Vice President for Membership, she works to understand and meet the needs of current members and to increase the membership by upholding the values of PMI Global and our local chapter.
