Fellow PMI Bluegrass Members,
As the fall season is wrapping up and we look towards a beautiful winter season now is good time to celebrate our chapter’s growth and activities and also to give you a heads-up on some upcoming events.
As you may be aware, starting this past July 1, 2018, the Kentucky Revenue Cabinet enacted a Tax Reform bill that impacted the amount the chapter charges for our events and meetings. We are mandated by legislation to charge a 6% tax on all events where there is a fee to attend. As Chapter President, I am committed to the transparency of our chapter’s financial wellbeing and to comply with the enacted legislation. Thank you to all our chapter members for your cooperation and patience as we fine-tune our registration process to accommodate this 6% tax component.
PMI Bluegrass Community Outreach Event
We recently hosted a Bluegrass Community Outreach Event in which our chapter partnered with local non-profit organizations at The Plantory in Lexington. This event is the first of its kind for our chapter, and based on our participant feedback, it was a huge success! We plan to build on this first event so that we can connect with more non-profits in our community. Thank you to the Planning Team and the Event Day volunteers who worked so hard to bring this opportunity to the community.
Membership and Awards
Your Bluegrass Chapter has achieved a major milestone: we reached an all-time record of crossing the 300+ chapter members in September 2018 and set ourselves on a strong path to continued growth. Another exciting milestone: our Bluegrass chapter was recognized this month at the PMI Conference in Los Angeles as the Best Chapter with the Highest Retention Rate for the year 2018 in Region 5. This achievement would not be possible without the support of our 300+ chapter members. Thank you!
Chapter 20th Anniversary
A third milestone was the celebration of the PMI Bluegrass Chapter’s 20th Anniversary at Joseph-Beth’s Bronte Bistro. Our event included panel discussions with founding board members, past presidents and current board members. It was an honor to have Ms. Margareth Carneiro, a Director on PMI Global’s 2018 Board of Directors, as our guest speaker. She shared an update on the PMI Global focus for the coming year. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped pull this event together.
In November 2018, I hope that you will take time to give thanks and enjoy time with your family.
In December 2018, PMI Bluegrass will be celebrating this strong year! Stay tuned for details on our upcoming Holiday Gathering on Friday, Dec 14th at Marikka’s in Lexington, KY.
The slate for the 2019 Board for PMI Bluegrass will be announced soon. Watch your email for more details.
I look forward to the opportunity to hear more from each of you at our celebration and networking in the new year as we all take advantage of the Project Management resources available to support our profession.
Vasu Vasudevan, President
